The nomination is led by the Black Heritage Society of Washington State (BHS)
Community Preservation Cohort which is encouraging public comment and
promoting interest on its website www.bhswa.org. The website includes a link
to the nomination presentation materials with detailed graphics and history of
the People’s Wall. (And, much more — check it out.)

Originally commissioned by the Seattle Chapter of the Black Panthers Party in
1969, https://revisitwa.org/waypoint/the-peoples-wall/ , the People’s Wall
would become one of a small but growing number of landmarks that celebrate
the rich and unique history of the Central District. See: https://
